Gooden-ough for the Spurs

Ok, that’s my last Gooden word play, because frankly, they don’t work all that well.  So, Drew Gooden has become a member of the San Antonio Spurs, which is a great pick up.  Gooden was never a score first guy (although he can), and can pick up both sides of the board.  He fits right in with the team mentality, and doesn’t have to change his game much to fit the San Antonio culture.  An undersized forward who has no business picking up the numbers he’s capable of, Drew can become an incredible asset (assuming his groin feels good).

Marbury Official Celtic, Will Play Today

“I’m just so happy to be able to play basketball again, no matter what my role is…  I was lit up because the tradition of the Celtics—you think about the championships, you think about all the guys who have played here. The history speaks for itself.”  Stated Marbury, already wearing his Celtic greens.

“I’m human. I make mistakes…  I have learned from my mistakes. You’ve got to keep on pushing on.”– Sound familiar?  Yes, it seems to be Marbury’s catch phrase as of late.  We’ll see how until things star to fall apart.  I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but I’ve already done that far too often with Marbury.  This time, I expect the Celtics to be moderately successful, while the whole Marbury thing doesn’t quite work out (if that’s even possible).  We’ll get a glimpse of things to come tonight, but don’t expect much, it’ll be much like a first date (and you know how accurate first dates are when used to predict future behavior).

Celtics Get Moore For Their Money

The Boston Celtics signed big man Mikki Moore yesterday, and should be available to suit up and play for them soon.  The Celtics are hoping Moore will play some spot minutes and bring some size into their lineup.  On a semi-related note, the Celtics have expressed interest in picking up guard Stephon Marbury, but nothing substantial.  People are writing him off and telling the Celts to beware, but really, do you think Marbury will start trouble so soon?  I’m thinking he’s going to at least wait until next season (if he’s at least a little intelligent).  Still, there is a chance he could disrupt a united locker room, that has different philosophies from him, but despite all the troubles Marbury has always been a winner, since his highschool days.  Either way, things should be quite interesting soon.

Also,  Tim Duncan is out with a quad injury.
