Sixth Man is Reggie Theus
Yes, the Sixth man to get fired from his coaching job in the NBA. There will be at least one more, I feel it. C’mon~ lucky number 7. Ok, heres the list so far:
P.J. Carlesimo, Eddie Jordan, Sam Mitchell, Randy Wittman, Mo Cheeks, and now Reggie Theus.
The Kings started out the season 5-8, not overly bad, but then they went on a 10/11 losing streak (lone win against the Lakers, grr..). They drop to last place in the pacific, which is quite a feat seeing how the Clippers and Warriors are playing so badly. He also alienated himself from the locker room, the GM, and the owners. I guess all those late night panty raids took their toll. Personally, I think it was his hair that did him in. Did he deserve to get fired? Probably, will this change anything? Not this season. The Kings have been “rebuilding” since Webber left, and the only player left from their dominant early 2000 days is Brad Miller. Their only upside is a questionable Kevin Martin, an inconsistent John Salmons, and a hardly used Francisco Garcia. Sadly, they have a great fan base, and a great crowd that is being shafted at the moment, and deserve a better team than this. Unlike most losing teams, their fans still attend games and make tons of noise.
So, now that that is over, let us take a look at our next candidate to get fired. I don’t percieve any more firing in the Western Conference, Memphis is definitely going for the lottery this year. I think the Atlantic and Southeast division are pretty safe, but I can see changes being made in the Central division. Although a couple of their struggling teams just acquired new coachs in the offseason, I have seen stranger things happen (like Derrick Rose cutting himself).
