Boston’s Greatness
What makes Boston so good? They are off to a franchise record 21-2, and there appears to be no slowing down in the near future. They are beating people with great team defense, and can definitely play offense when they want to. But the thing that impresses me most about Boston is their mentality both on and off the court. They are a team, and know that life is bigger than basketball. Life is bigger than their fancy cars, and their celebrity status. The main reason for this is Jesus… Jesus Shuttlesworth to be exact. I’ve always been a big fan of Ray Allen, he’s got the work ethic, he’s got the humility, and he’s got game. Evidence of this is his routine trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, which he convinced some of this other teammates to go on during their road trip to the nation’s capital. It was a good experience for the younger players, who can see that there is plenty to be humble about.
Not to say that there aren’t other great guys in the league, but right now Boston is the only proven team in the league: they are tough and never give up. Every other team, including the Caveliers and Lakers, still have things to prove before people start seriously talking championship. It pains me to say, because I grew up hating on the Celtics, but the rest of the league has got some growing to do.
